After breakfast in Moshi, you’ll drive to Londorossi Gate for registration and begin your trek. The first part of the journey takes you through the dense rainforests of Kilimanjaro, where you’ll have the opportunity to spot wildlife such as monkeys and exotic birds. After a 3-4 hour trek, you’ll arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp, situated at 2,750m. Here, you can rest and enjoy a dinner as you prepare for the journey ahead.
Following a nutritious breakfast, you’ll trek through the rainforests, gradually ascending to the alpine moorland zone. The path is surrounded by dense vegetation, and as you progress, you’ll begin to see panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro’s peak in the distance. After 4–5 hours of hiking, you’ll arrive at Shira 1 Camp on the Shira Plateau, where you can enjoy a picnic lunch and relax before your dinner. The night offers spectacular views of the plateau and the peak.
After a hearty breakfast, the trek continues across the Shira Plateau, which gives way to a high-altitude desert landscape. As you climb higher, the views of the glaciers on the summit become more pronounced. This portion of the trek is easier, with gradual inclines, making it a pleasant day. You’ll arrive at Shira 2 Camp after about 4–5 hours of walking. You’ll have a picnic lunch along the way, followed by a relaxing afternoon and dinner as you rest.
Today’s trek takes you across the beautiful Shira Plateau, eventually reaching Barranco Camp after 5–6 hours of walking. This portion of the trek includes a climb to Barranco Wall, a famous steep section that provides stunning panoramic views of the surrounding glaciers and valleys. Once at Barranco Camp, you can enjoy a picnic lunch and spend the afternoon relaxing. A delicious dinner will be served, and you’ll have a chance to reflect on the stunning landscapes you’ve encountered.
After a fulfilling breakfast, we begin the day by climbing Barranco Wall. This climb is challenging but offers incredible views of the surrounding valleys and glaciers. Once at the top, the path becomes gentler as you descend into the Karanga Valley and make your way to Karanga Camp. After 4–5 hours of trekking, you’ll enjoy a picnic lunch and a relaxing afternoon at the camp. The camp provides a perfect vantage point for watching the changing landscapes of Kilimanjaro.
Following breakfast, you’ll begin your ascent toward Barafu Camp, which sits at 4,673m. The terrain here transitions to an alpine desert, with sparse vegetation and stunning views of the southern glaciers. The trek takes around 4–5 hours, providing plenty of time to rest before the summit attempt. At Barafu Camp, you’ll have a light lunch and prepare for the night’s climb. A warm dinner will be served, and you’ll go to bed early to rest before your summit push.
Summit day begins in the early hours of the morning, around midnight, with a light meal and hot drinks. The climb to Gilman’s Point is steep and challenging, but the reward is incredible views of the glaciers and the surrounding volcanic landscape. After reaching Gilman’s Point, continue along the rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Spend time celebrating your success and taking in the breathtaking views. Afterward, descend to Barafu Camp for a quick brunch and continue your descent to Mweka Camp, where you’ll enjoy a warm dinner and spend your final night on the mountain.
After a filling breakfast, you’ll complete the final descent from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate. This part of the trek takes about 3–4 hours and provides the opportunity to enjoy the lush rainforest, where you may encounter some wildlife. Once at the gate, you’ll receive your summit certificate to commemorate your achievement. We’ll drive you back to Moshi, where a celebratory lunch awaits, marking the end of your unforgettable journey.
