Itinerary

After breakfast, depart from Moshi for a scenic drive to Lemosho Gate, where you will register and begin your trek. The journey today takes you through lush rainforests filled with exotic flora and fauna. Expect to see monkeys, birds, and a wide variety of plant life as you make your way through the forest. After about 3–4 hours, you’ll arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp, where you’ll relax and enjoy a hearty dinner. This camp sits at an elevation of 2,750m and provides your first night’s rest on Kilimanjaro.

Following a delicious breakfast, we continue through the rainforest before entering moorland as the terrain gradually opens up. During today’s trek, you’ll enjoy views of the iconic Kibo Peak, which towers in the distance. After 4–5 hours of walking, we arrive at Shira 1 Camp on the Shira Plateau, a vast alpine desert. Here, you can take in expansive views of the plateau and the surrounding wilderness. A picnic lunch will be served along the way, and in the evening, a warm dinner will be prepared at the camp.

After a filling breakfast, we continue our trek through the Shira Plateau, where the landscape begins to feel even more like a high-altitude desert. As we make our way toward Shira 2 Camp, we’ll see stunning views of Kibo Peak’s glaciers, and the atmosphere becomes increasingly colder. Today’s hike will take about 4–5 hours, and upon reaching Shira 2 Camp, you can rest and enjoy a picnic lunch. The camp offers excellent views of Mount Kilimanjaro, perfect for a relaxing evening before a hearty dinner.

After breakfast, we continue along the plateau before making our way towards Barranco Camp. Along the route, you’ll be treated to incredible views of the southern glaciers and the volcanic terrain. The trail includes a challenging climb to Barranco Wall, a steep and rocky section that rewards you with breathtaking views of the valleys below. After about 5–6 hours of trekking, we’ll reach Barranco Camp, where you can relax and enjoy a satisfying picnic lunch and a delicious dinner.

After breakfast, we begin by ascending Barranco Wall, which offers some of the best views on the mountain. Once at the top, the trail becomes gentler as we descend into the Karanga Valley and ascend to Karanga Camp. Today’s trek is relatively short, taking about 4–5 hours, and offers plenty of time for acclimatization. At camp, enjoy a picnic lunch, followed by a relaxing afternoon before dinner. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere at Karanga Camp, which is beautifully nestled in a valley.

After a hearty breakfast, we set off toward Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit attempt. The trek takes 4–5 hours, and as we climb through alpine desert, the landscape becomes increasingly barren and rugged. Upon arrival at Barafu Camp, you’ll have time to rest and hydrate before preparing for the summit attempt. After a light lunch, your guides will help ensure that your gear is ready for the night’s summit push. After a nutritious dinner, you’ll go to bed early to rest for the ascent.

Summit day begins at midnight with a light snack and hot drinks before heading out into the cold night. The climb is steep, taking you through rocky and icy terrain to Gilman’s Point on the crater rim. From there, continue around the rim to reach the summit, Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Once at the top, enjoy panoramic views of glaciers, the crater, and the expansive Tanzanian landscape. After celebrating your achievement, descend to Barafu Camp for a brunch and continue the descent to Mweka Camp. Today’s descent takes about 5–6 hours, and a warm dinner will be served upon arrival.

After a breakfast, we complete the final leg of the descent from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate, which takes 3–4 hours. As you descend through lush rainforest, the cool breeze and diverse wildlife will keep you company. Upon reaching the gate, you’ll receive your summit certificate to commemorate your achievement. We’ll then drive back to Moshi for a well-deserved lunch and a celebratory drink before the tour concludes.
