Your itinerary.
Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Your safari begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha, followed by a scenic drive through the countryside toward Tarangire National Park. Upon arrival, your guide will complete the park entry formalities before you begin your first exciting game drive. The park's landscapes are characterized by vast savannah plains, seasonal swamps, acacia woodland, and magnificent ancient baobab trees. As you explore, watch for large elephant families, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, and antelopes. Tarangire is also home to predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs, although sightings depend on wildlife movements and conditions.
Around midday, enjoy a packed picnic lunch at a designated location inside the park before continuing your wildlife exploration in the afternoon. Your guide will take advantage of wildlife activity and seasonal conditions to explore rewarding game-viewing areas, including sections of the Tarangire River ecosystem. Later, leave the park and travel toward your selected lodge in the Manyara or Karatu region. Upon arrival, check in, enjoy dinner, and relax in preparation for the following day's Ngorongoro Crater adventure.
Ngorongoro Crater Safari – Return to Arusha
After an early breakfast at your lodge, depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, one of Africa's most extraordinary natural wonders. As you approach the crater rim, enjoy breathtaking views across the immense volcanic caldera before descending approximately 600 meters to the crater floor. The Ngorongoro Crater provides habitat for a remarkable diversity of animals, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas, hippos, and the rare black rhinoceros. Your experienced guide will help you identify wildlife and explain the fascinating ecology of this protected landscape.
Continue your game drive across the crater floor, exploring open grasslands, freshwater areas, and other wildlife-rich habitats. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated site, often near the scenic Ngoitokitok picnic area, before completing your crater exploration within the permitted visit duration. Later, ascend the crater wall and begin the return journey to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening, depending on road conditions and departure time. Your guide will drop you at your agreed location, marking the end of your memorable 2-day Tanzania safari with NAVOI.
